The center was formed in January 2009 with financial support through the UCOP with the goal to increase collaborations among UC faculty and their students, and scientists and engineers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Graduate student, Vladmir Mozin, participated in the program and is now a staff researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
The Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative - BERC (http://berc.berkeley.edu/) held its annual "Energy Week in Berkeley" from October 15-18, 2012. In addition to lectures and panels, the Innovation Expo showcased was organized where UC Berkeley students were invited to submit their energy-related ideas in form of posters. This year’s Expo featured 70 original research posters from UC Berkeley, LBNL, and Stanford University, as well as over 25 presenting companies, national labs, and the Department of Energy. New to the Expo this year was a video competition, which challenged students to present their research in a simple way in just 2 minutes. The NE students submitted 3 posters and 1 video input
